Just got home from seeing Martha Wainwright play at the Shepherd's Bush Empire; she was so incredible! She played many of my favourites from the first album, some new material that sounds fantastic, a Eurythmics cover that was a vast improvement over the original, AND she had a great line in between-songs banter ("I look like a bird in this dress. WAAARRRKKKKK!!!")
I've had such a great run of seeing top quality gigs the last few months, what with Tori Amos and Joan as Police Woman only quite recently.
I am so going to do a portrait of Martha. |

Just got back into London from Oxford and decided to set up a LiveJournal page because of a conversation with jinty... stayed at the house of cleanskies and leckford in order to raid their prodigious queerzines and mini-comix collection as part of my PhD research project... they were very gracious hosts, and looking through all those old zines was pretty interesting, and weird... |
